A Sweet Beginning

For hundreds of years, parents and teachers have marked the day a child begins learning the Alef Bet with honey and other sweets.  This day marks the beginning of a child’s Jewish education.  No matter that this is my sixteenth year teaching kindergarten, I still get the chills as I introduce each group of precious children to the letter Alef.

At CJDS we put a modern spin on this tradition by serving the children an Alef made of rice krispy treats.

As you can imagine it was quite a sweet hit!
